The graphic on this season’s Wraith snowboard features a mystical memorial to a legendary raccoon named Conrad, who on one fateful morning in July, 2015, changed the lives of the people of Toronto forever.

Our story begins in the raccoon capitol of the world: Toronto, Canada.

Toronto is frequently called the “raccoon capital of the world” due to its high raccoon population, estimated to be between 60,000 and 100,000. At 9:00 on Thursday, July 9th, a man in Toronto reported a dead raccoon on the sidewalk to the city, via Twitter. After he was reported to Toronto’s city administration and animal control department, more than 12 hours elapsed before he was eventually removed. In that time, a memorial shrine was erected around the poor raccoon, complete with photos, cards, candles, roses, and a trending hashtag – #deadraccoonto.

As soon as we heard the tale of sweet Conrad, we knew his life story deserved further tribute. To be eternally memorialized on a snowboard, taken to mountains all over the world, for more adventures beyond the grave.

The artwork was created by UK-based artist Zosia Olenska Anderson, using mixtures of charcoal, ink and watercolor.

The coordinates on the central gold foil stamp featured on this board lead to Conrad’s memorial site, on the corner of Yonge and Church, Toronto, Canada.
