I am 6’1″ weigh 215 lbs. with size 11 boots. I LOVE this board!!
When the box was first delivered to my door step I honestly thought that they forgot to put the board in the box. It is that light weight.
I have since taken this board out on a handful of backcountry missions. In tour mode it is extremely light under foot and holds an edge even on steep icy side hill terrain. This is by far the best touring set up I have ever used, this is my 4th split board.
But the real question? How does it ride? AMAZING!
This board rides like a solid board. I rips in powder. I even went out of my way to ride it in icy chunder because what board doesn’t do well in powder. The camber profile with rocker in the nose allowed the board to break through the chop and hold an edge when most solid boards would bounce out. Also the extra stiffness in the tail allows you to be able to stop big airs even if you are slightly off when you land. It is like it wants to help you self correct.
I can’t recommend this board enough! I am still blown away by the price! How are they making such a quality split board for 300 dollars less then all the competition?
If you are looking for a new split, this is your board!
    Thanks Niche!

BEST SPLITBOARD!! I’ve used it in multiple states, multiple conditions, and it’s held strong! Anything from pillows, big terrain, and even jumps, this board has felt like my normal board! Firm under the feet but still playful! Tours uphill as good as it shred down the mountain

Loved it. Good and stiff handles well does what I want it to do. Really chargy. Hikes like a dream and has a great price point.

    Bonjour
    A l’usage :

    Bravo Niche !

I love this split! The first time I rode it I was so impressed with how much it rode and felt like my solid! I am a female rider in my 30’s, 145lb, 5’5″ and ride the 151cm. I have toward on pow days and on days where the snow conditions were questionable but this board never lets me down!

    This board is so rad!
The Maelstrom is my favorite snowboard I own and I have A LOT of boards. This is just the split version with all the trimmings of a great touring board. First time riding this I backfliped a 30 foot jump and stomped! Love it.

Insane value at $600. This board is light on the uphill and rips on the down – variable conditions, powder, cliffs, pillows. Highly recommend!

Great splitboard! I have the Niche Fantom splitboard. This is my 3rd splitboard, and my 33rd snowboard. I really like how it’s eco-friendly. Love the graphics. Love the shape, I can ride all mountain, and solid on groomers. I’m surprised for its traditional all-mountain shape how awesome in fresh pow! It floats really well compared to my all-mountain true twin board. It’s has just the right amount of flex that I don’t get rear leg pump when trying to keep the nose from sinking in pow when the terrain flattens out.

I don’t know why anyone would spend more money on a splitboard than this. I’ve had my fathom for almost a year now. It does everything better than my old flight attendant split – it’s lighter, poppier, more floaty in powder, and more lively, but stays composed straight lining through bumpy, variable snow conditions at speed. It’s super quick edge to edge – capable of quick pow slashes and skidded turns in the tight trees of New England, but can hold long heelside carves on icy groomers at the resort and has so much pop to spring you right into the next one. As an added bonus, the top sheet graphic is gorgeous – and in my opinion the most visually compelling artwork on any splitboard in its general category (stiff cam-rocker splitboards). My only gripe is that the Union hardware it comes with hasn’t been the most reliable. Thankfully the tip and tail clips and hooks come right out with a screwdriver (no drilling rivets!!)…..I replaced them with the spark clips and hooks – a much more secure setup that stiffens it up substantially and unlocks the board’s true potential. This board is so good that I wish I had the solid equivalent (maelstrom) for resort riding, and I even enjoy riding the Fathom over either of my solid boards (Rome national and Jones stratos). In summary, this board is phenomenal and outrides splitboards that cost nearly twice as much. Buy the Fathom and save some money that you would have spent on an equivalent or even inferior splitboard to pay for a fancy dinner date, your dog’s vet bill, a hut trip, or all of the above.

A split that actually rides like a solid! This board has given me such a confidence boost in the backcountry. It’s stiff, but lightweight, charges hard, but yet is nimble enough to turn on a dime..huge fan, by far the best split I’ve been on!

Honestly though, one of my very favorite things about riding this board is knowing that it was sustainably produced… Niche snowboards is such a rad company!

  11. Adi Sadeh

LOVE THIS SPLITBOARD!!! I have it in a 147, and it absolutely rips! It’s super lightweight and feels like a solid which gives me sooo much confidence in the backcountry! This is my second touring set up and its truly a night and day difference compared to my old split. I have brought this on several backcountry trips already and all I can say is that I am in love!

  12. Juan Peon

I have been riding this board for the last 3 years and I love it. My first impression was that it still felt good underfoot in bad snow which my last splitboard from another brand definitely didn’t. Lightweight but not so super light that it can’t take a hit from some rocks (I have hit many). Nice pop to it. Agile turning but can handle straight-lining at high speed. Overall very versatile and high performance splitboard. I’m 6ft 160lbs and use the 157cm.

  13. Sarah

I had the Burton Flight Attendant Splitboard before I started riding the Niche Fathom. I was so impressed the first time I strapped in and started taking some turns on the Fathom. She maneuvers so easily at slower speeds on slick groomers (exactly like a solid board underfoot) but somehow she stays super smooth and reliable carving at higher speeds, probably due to the directional flex pattern. I love this board and can’t recommend it enough. The board can handle all types of terrain and floats like a dream in powder. I am 5’10”, 155 lbs and size 10 women’s boots. I have the 157. Seriously, if you are one the fence, you should just add it to the cart and see for yourself why this board rocks for more reasons than the inclusive price point.

  14. Chris

I have now ridden the 154 and 157 fathom. I am 5-6 with a size 9 boot and would recommend either of those boards for people who like to charge or just go out for a cruise. I ride a 157 solid (Maelstrom) and my 157 fathom is very similar.

As for the board, I have ridden a few other splits and these boards feel like the lightest splits that I have ridden and are very nice for the approach. For the decent, I think that these boards are aggressive but do not feel like plywood when you need to do fast turns. Both boards feel like my solid and I like that a lot. I think this board is a perfect match for beginner to expert riders! You will be very excited about the purchase.
